Xavier Cortada has implemented numerous mural projects through grant awards and/or artist residencies from various entities, including: U.S. State Department, USAID, State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council, Miami-Dade Art in Public Places, Met-Life Foundation, Dade Community Foundation. Among the awards: * National Science Foundation Antarctic Artists and Writers Fellowship, 2006-2007 * Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council Community Grants to implement art projects with non-profit organizations, including: Lowe Art Museum, Miami-Dade Art in Public Places, University of Miami School of Medicine, University of Miami School of Law, Centro Campesino, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, Citizens for a Better South Florida, Hands on Miami, and Office of the Public Defender, Miami, FL (1997-2004). * Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council /Art Center South Florida's New Forms Artists Grant to implement the artist's "WebStudio Project," an Internet-based collaborative art project using two webcams and a live chatroom, Miami, FL (1999). * State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs' Artist Residency grant to implement the "Reach for the Future" Miami Dade Art in Public Places residency at Palm Springs Middle School, Hialeah, Florida (1998).
